Oh No
I went in for a mammogram and the tech said there was something suspicious. I was then scheduled for a core needle biopsy which showed that I had breast cancer.

Breast Cancer

Procedure or Surgery
I had ductal and infiltrating ductal cancer. I am Stage 1 and ER PR + and HER2-. I went to a Cancer Center where I met with my team that led me thru every step of the way. My oncologist and my breast surgeon recommended a lumpectomy with rads, as my tumor was very small. So, I had the lumpectomy and 6 weeks later I started radiation. I had 35 rads, the last ones being boosters.

Radiation
6 weeks after my lumpectomy, I started radiation. I had 35 total, with the last few being boosters. I was lucky as I never burned, but, I did get really dark pink and was tender and sore. I was always gentle with my skin and used the two creams that my rads oncologist recommended for me right from the start and continued for several weeks even after I finished rads.

Celebration
I had a mammogram and ultrasound in May 2011 and they showed No Evidence Of Disease, so, we always say that we are Dancing with NED when we get that good news! I was terrified to go, as, that fear of it coming back does sneak in your mind. But, I got the best news ever!
