After the third treatment he did see much improvment, he has responded well to chemo, he has had 5 treatments and six is coming up on the 15th of Jan. His ONC had him taking 600mg advil 3x daily, since the 4th round he has not taken any advil is down to 2 aleve daily, still on 15mg morphine as needed, but that has dropped to about 2x a day. hope this helps

Thank you for your response on the medication, combination with Advil. If I may ask, after how many chemo treatments did the pain imptove? My husband is going for his third treatment mid Jan, so far pain has not
improved. Thank you again. Teresa -

Has anyone had luck with turkey tail mushroom supplements or tea? Longer time between treatment? remission?

5 months agoWell...
Perhaps, as complementary (along with) therapy in addition to your traditional medical therapy, and with the knowledge and support of your oncologist, I suppose there might be something to the idea. But, I tend to be skeptical. This sort of thing comes down to whether you feel better and making sure you don't try to use mushrooms instead of traditional medicine. Also, make sure that you don't take something that interferes with your regular treatment.

5 months agoAn Integrative Med MD at MSKCC has recommended that I take Turkey Tail (Super Coriolus PSK) and I've been doing so. There has been good evidence, at least for colorectal cancers. In Japan, it is one of the chemos used (I believe the PSP formulation is used for Lung ca ). See: http://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/herb/coriolus-versicolor

Chemo round #6 coming up on the 15th, then he gets a break! Has been feeling pretty good pain under control. Still feels like a bad dream, hoping for a good spring so he can go see family and welcome our new grandson( due to arrive anytime). Thanks to everyone for their good wishes
