Our WhatNexter of the Week this week is AlizaMLS. She is a Breast Cancer Survivor and a very helpful part of WhatNext. We asked for a little about her journey and why she is here on WhatNext and this is what she had to say.
I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer Stage I in August 2012, & underwent a mastectomy in December. To make matters worse I’m a Lupus patient.
After the shock, I went into Medical Librarian mode & researched and chose Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center with the help of my Rabbi and my cat’s Vet. Both their wives had cancer (different types) & were treated there with great results.
I’m approaching my 4th month of being Cancer free. Oncotype genetic testing ruled out chemo.
When you come through well, it’s important to give back, that’s why I spend time in my professional capacity on WhatNext, offering advice (mainly non-medical, & referrals to doctors, hospitals/institutions, agencies, etc. & research when necessary or requested.
If you have a question or need help with finding something related to cancer treatments, therapies, etc. Aliza is always available to help. Stop by her page HERE and drop your question, and thank her for being with us.
