    Diagnosed

    Oh No

The doctors found tumors in my FIL's brain and on his spinal cord on Dec. 11. My, and his ex-wife's birthday. My husband was away at work and I had to deliver the news. At this time, he was still not diagnosed with lung cancer.

    Moved in with us

    Other Care

1/7/13--Randy moved in with us. As a student teacher with a husband who works away 2 weeks of the month, this is going to be complicated. A friend of ours will be moving in on the 9th to care for Randy during the day as he is significantly unable to care for himself any longer.

    Diagnosed

    Oh No

They just fully diagnosed FIL with non-small cell lungcancer. Said chemo may give him some more time, but not much. Not even a time frame for how long. I don't want to be the one to tell my husband.

    Constipation

    Side Effects

FIL is really plugged up, even on stool softeners. Had MIL ask family doctor what else we should do (and also his sister). More water, and more moving, even if it is just up and down 10 to fifteen times a day. Preferably more walking. Needs milk of magnesia also.

    Home care

    Other Care

Home health comes in a few times a week, along with PT. Because I am at work, nurse and I communicate by notes (I record unusual behavior/ refusals to take medicine/ confusion/ side effects/ wants or needs, she responds either to the daytime care taker or directly to me through notes)

FIL has decided he is going to refuse treatment and signed a DNR this morning at the hospital. He only wants to be made comfortable.
