    Diagnosed

    Oh No

Wow! First I had a needle biopsy that was cleared of cancer on an enlarged lymph gland in my neck to having to have it removed because it just wasn't reacting positively to antibiotics. Dr. felt it was better to be safe than sorry & remove. Just found out Monday that the pathology report came back positive for cancer. The problem now is finding the primary source. Had a PET scan Tuesday & it looks like it might be both of my tonsils instead of just th right side. So many questions, so many sites and so much scary information. I almost wished I hadn't googled the information from the Pathology report my dr. gave me....

    Surgery

    Procedure or Surgery

While I knew the tonsillectomy would be painful & tried to prepare myself for it, I don't think you can. It was much more painful than I thought it would be. The incision to remove the rest of the lymph glands on my right side was from under my ear all the way to my chin and it made swallowing even worse. A week later and my voice isn't very strong. I was most surprised to see how my normal breathing was impacted. I have to breathe more now through my mouth. I can't wait til things clear up and shrink so that I can go back to breathing normal. The good news is pathaology came back and the cancer was only evident in my right tonsil after all and the one lymph node in my right neck. So a radical tonsillectomy on the right and regular on on my left means I won't get it on the left now. Diagnosis with all the pathology in is stage 3 now.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Evidently I'm a small percent of the population who don't tolerate chemo very well. My issues were so severe the original plan of 3 courses of 3 different drugs given over 3 to 4 days every 21 days have been abandoned. Now I'm trying to rebuild my strength and stamina for the next phase which will be radiation.
