    Oh No

    Laparascopic colon surgery

    Procedure or Surgery

When the tumor was removed my color came back in my face two days later. The doctors said it was a sign of good healthy cells in my body. By the end of 5 day hospital stay I was ready to go home for the recovery period.

    Went as Expected: Strongly Agree
    Minimal Recovery: Agree
    Minimal Side Effects: Agree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Agree

    I can't believe I need Chemo!

    Oh No

My gasternologist and surgeon didn't think I would need Chemo but we were all surprised. The pathology report was Stage IIIC-Chemo needed.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

I had a rough time during 6 months total of 12 rounds of chemo therapy. My team of doctors contributed it to my history of being allergic to many medications prior to having to start chemo. Chemo week I was mostly feeling crummy with side affects. Chemo off week I would spring back like a rabbit. Although I was not able to work the entire treatment episode.

    Easy to Do: Strongly Disagree
    Minimal Side Effects: Strongly Disagree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Strongly Disagree

Attempted to gain more days free from side affects.

    Decision Point

I joined online support groups, went to a dietician to learn how to feel better thru food, drank lots of water and took many epsom salt baths to detox the chemo from my body. Oh and I spent lots of time with friends and family. In fact I had to let go and let my friends and family take care of me when I needed-that was tough to let go!

Care from my caregivers-friends mostly as my family was far away.

    Other Care

My girlfriends were wonderful! They took time to comfort me through the rough days, reassured me when I felt overwelmed and scared that all the chemo would not work and helped me to laugh and smile again.

    Side Effects

Right now I am dealing with neuropathy in my hands and feet. The doctor started neurontin for the discomfort. I am also using hot packs and trying to exercise it by walking. Right now all these things are helping the discomfort.

    Side Affect

    Oh No

I fell down a flight of stairs outside my apt yesterday. My leg just collapsed from underneath me. The doctors say it is a result of the Neuropathy. I am brusied and sore but no broken bones. Thank goodness!
