    Diagnosed

    Oh No

When my mom was 51 she found out she had uterine cancer, she had a complete hysterectomy and didn't have to do radiation or chemo. When she was 69 she found out she had breast cancer in her right breast. She had a lumpectomy and did 7 weeks of radiation. Now at 78 she has invasive ductal carcinoma in her left breast. She had a lumpectomy to remove it, no cancer in nodes. She will begin radiation monday and go 4 weeks. She says she is not doing anything else and does not want to go back to her oncologist for anymore blood work etc..... I am totally here for her and she knows that, but I do hope she changes her mind about seeing the oncologist. This is her fight but I want to help her as much as I can without upsetting her. She has been through so much, I just want her happy, healthy.

    Radiation

my mom is going to radiation, she is finishing week 2. Says she feels good. she met with a counselor and that has made such a big difference in her mood. Someone was nice enough to give her a computer so I'm hoping she will come on the "whatnext" trip with everyone. Today is a really good day, and I don't think she has had many of those lately. thank you to everyone who has shared their journeys. By helping me, I can better help her.

    Radiation

today my mom started her radiation. first day went fine. the good part was after her treatment we went out to lunch and she explained to me how much she appreciates all I am doing but she just can't handle all the information on her cancer. She gets very upset reading what they gave her at doctors office, she does not want to hear about test results, if bad news. She just wants to do her radiation and be done with it. I totally respect and understand her wishes. I believe her breast cancer is stage 1 and her surgeon says she got all the cancer during the lumpectomy. Suppose to see oncologist in a couple of weeks. She has had a cat scan come back with spots on her lungs but then she had a pet scan and it came back negative. I guess the oncologist will go over what he wants to do next. Mom says she is not getting anymore test. now what????
