Diagnosed
Oh No
My mom was diagnosed with Angiosarcoma in July of 2010. What started out as a "patch of dry skin" on her scalp (that wouldn't heal); was finally biopsied and diagnosed.
Surgery
Procedure or Surgery
The small patch on her scalp that was to be removed; had spread much MUCH further than originally thought. She had to have a large skin graft done (tissue taken from her upper thigh).
Surgery
Procedure or Surgery
While having more surgery performed on her scalp, the doctors also removed a "bump" on her left ring finger. Only to find out from the biopsy that it was spindle cell carcinoma. And it had spread. They had to amputate her finger, reposition the remaining fingers, and also remove more cancer that had spread into the back of her hand.
Surgery
Procedure or Surgery
Another sarcoma was found in her left arm. Surgery was performed.
External radiation
Radiation
Last spring, mom began a course of radiation to her arm.
Surgery
Procedure or Surgery
Once again, mom found another (Angio) sarcoma in her left hand. She has had the initial surgery to remove the lump. Unfortunately; her PET scan showed it had again spread. She will be having more surgery to clean up the margins.
