    Radiation and chemotherapy together

    Radiation

Because it was my crotch & XXX area that were radiated -- my skin was burned enough that the skin peeled & fell off. Of course, that area does not normally even see sunshine!!!! I feel that I should have had a counsellor or a peer counsel me on what I should expect. The -- P - A - I - N -- that I experienced in those tender areas is hard to explain. Imagine trying to seat yourself gently in your car, just so you can drive for ANOTHER treatment!!! I felt it was easier to drive myself than to have someone else drive me and I could experience all the bumps in the road along the way. As long as I drove, I was more relaxed - as hard as that might be to believe. I just find it very hard to believe that in this day & age of miracle lotions, pills, etc. ---- that there was not a lotion I could find (even on a prescription for $50!!) that would help lessen the burning feeling -or- heal it.

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

My drug therapy was done over the 1st 4 days, when I started my radiation. I had a "baby-bottle" device attached to a catheter (?) and the "juice" slowly entered my system over 2 days. Then, I went back & they installed a 2nd bottle for a further 2 days. That was IT -- until after my 1st block of Radiation was finished. After a few weeks healing time, Chemo & Radiation started again. I again had to go for my "baby-bottle" of drugs. 2 of them over 4 days. No having to sit or lie around the Chemotherapy Dept for hours or days. It was such a depressing place, I was glad I only had to go there a few times!!!

    Saw a Counsellor

    Other Care

My hospital provided a counsellor, so I took advantage of that -- but, because I was trying to end my 20 yr. relationship with my non-live-in-boyfriend -- they didnt feel that the counselling could continue until I got that resolved. I procrastinated until 2012!!! What a RELIEF when we finally agreed there was no "relationship" left -- but we ARE really good friends.
