    Surgery

    Procedure or Surgery

The days after diagnosis were spent visiting doctors, having test, and endoscopic surgery to remove the tumor at the skull base. Tumor was first thought to be pituatary, then cordoma, after resection surgery, was told it was lymphoma due to the small round blue cells. He was then assigned to an oncologist at Winship of Emory.

    External radiation

    Radiation

After resection surgery in Sept 2012, he began radiation to the mass remaining on the brain stem. The mass had engulfed the sinus cavity, optic nerves, etc... Radiation did not shrink the remaining mass, but it has not grown either.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

After radiation, he began chemo (RVD clinical trial). Thankfully, other than excessive tiredness, a bout with pluerisy and some flu like symptoms, the side effects have been minimal.

    Chemo brain

    Side Effects

Bobby often gets "fuzzy headed". We have since learned that is a side effect of the chemo.

    Flu-like symptoms (fever, chills, sweats)

    Side Effects

Bobby had a rough bout of pluerisy a few weeks ago and since then he seems to keep flu like symptoms. He will go from one extreme to the other. From chills to sweats.

    Low blood pressure (hypotension)

    Side Effects

Due to the RVD meds, we have to monitor his blood pressure. As recently as last week, Bobby had a black out spell at work and once he was assessed at Winship, they say it was due to low bp, dehydration and infection.

    Diagnosed

    Oh No

My husband Bobby began having headaches in July 2012. We thought it was just stress related. In August they got worse, he saw his primary dr who set him up with a CT. Two days before the CT, on August 15, 2012, Bobby blacked out at work. I took him to our local ER. They did a CT and found a 5 cm mass at the bass of his brain.
