Diagnosed
Oh No
They found a lesion on my thyroid. Had a sonagram this past Friday and I am waiting to hear back from results. Possible biopsy and another surgery may be in my future. Doctor said if this is a sarcoma on my thyroid that survival is 50 percent or 5 years since I have a sarcoma on my breast also that they removed from 2 surgeries. Just trying to prepare myself for the unknown about what is going to happen.
Lumpectomy
Procedure or Surgery
I had a lumpectomy on January 15, 2013. Did not have clear margins so they had to do additional breast surgery on January 29, 2013. Recovery from second surgery has been a bit tougher. First surgery only took pain pills 2 days. This second surgery have been taking them over 2 weeks. Still have pain if I do too much incision starts hurting.
Other
Radiation
Doctor said I will have radiation once they decide if I don't need chemo. But if I do chemo than they will do the radiation for sure afterwards. I don't know what kind of radiation yet as I am waiting for test results from thyroid sonagram and if I'll need chemo.

Diagnosed
Oh No
Had my yearly mamogram in December and they called a day later and said I had an abnormal scan. Went back the next day for a sonagram. Then the day after Christmas they did a biopsy. Sent it to the Mayo Clinic for further review. They told me it was a spindle cell sarcoma, a rare form of breast cancer. My doctor said this is a pesky cancer that can pop up other places.
