Surgery
Procedure or Surgery
Only 12 hours out of surgery on my rectal cancer. The most talented surgeon was able to do the who procedure with a laparoscope. Went so much better than expected. Only 2-3 days in hospital. Most amazing!!
Removal of rectal tumor
Procedure or Surgery
Surgery update continued. My urine plumbing was inoperable after surgery. Today after suffering some intense pain from the Foley, it was removed. All plumbing fully operational. Peeing on the toilet seat again.
Home care
Other Care
Life with ostomy has not been good. Been only a week with multiple leaks and equipment failure. Time to check out another system.
Bladder problems
Side Effects
Been 3 weeks tomorrow since surgery. What started out as a very upset bladder and urethra over being zapped 28 times trend into a very upset bladder that first didn't want to empty. So in goes the foley cath. Further upsetting my poor bladder which was right in the middle of my surgery. After multiple foley carbs and straight caths, it has become infected with a raging UTI. Will my urinary tract ever forgive me?
Implant chemotherapy port
Procedure or Surgery
When they were implanting my port they hit the artery instead of the vein. What ever they used to stop the bleeding has caused a very large pain in my neck. Grrrrrr
And we are done!
Side Effects
Cancer free and heading home from the hospital. Yahoo
Symptom Management
Excrutiating pain in the rear. Had my takedown about a month ago which went well until I go a C. Diff infection. Spent a few weeks in the hospital on vancomycin and flagyl and pooping everywhere in site. After 10 days turned the corner and home. Now I poop 6-12 timed a day and the area around my anus has become extremely sore to a point of bleeding. I've use all manner of barrier cream without luck can someone out there make a recommendation so I once again be a happy pooper.
Oh No
Went for my annual physical last week. First the doctor thought my PSA was riding too fast. Test showed that it dropped to normal levels. Then the doc found something on my thyroid. Went for an ultrasound and the results were not good. I have a large nodule that appears to be abnormal. Off to the endocrinologist for further evaluation. Surfing the net didn't come up with much positive.
