Diagnosed
Oh No
Already had breast cancer...REALLY? Like I need this too!
Surgery
Procedure or Surgery
Doctor was awesome. Surgery went well - can hardly see the scar.
Meds for life...
Drug or Chemo Therapy
Taking Cytomel and Levoxyl currently. I am on my third endo. Hard to find a good one that listens and is attentive.
Internal radiation
Radiation
Did the whole iodine thing...sat in my room with my doggies for three days. Kids thought I was grounded I think. Lol. My husband and kids were pretty good at responding to needs.
Weight gain
Side Effects
My levels are constantly off...last year my hair started falling out and let's just say since I am pretty familiar with how horrible that was for me I was a basket case. My nails and cuticles became cutting ground...why does that happen? It is like I wanted to dig a hole in every nail bed I had. I had to wrap my hands and feet in medicine at night to repair damage from the day. Was very strange. Thyroid regulation is hard. Never knew the thyroid was so important. I would have kept it had I known! Fought the cancer another way or something!
More meds for life...
Drug or Chemo Therapy
Medicine changes are almost constant..... Side effects are difficult to manage when levels are off. Takes so long to get back on the right track, too.
