First Diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma
Oh No
I was diagnosed in September 2010, and very shortly after started treatment. I was in excruciating pain due to a fractured pelvis.
Pain medicine
Drug or Chemo Therapy
I was diagnosed at my local hospital, and then transfered to another for furthur testing and given stronger pain meds due to the biopsy that was done.
Chemotherapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
The chemo that I first given was Velcade, which at least didn't make me lose my hair. I was taking this from September 2010 to January 2011.
Implant chemotherapy port
Procedure or Surgery
I had a port-au-carthe installed due to the damage the chemo was doing to my veins, and later on a pic-line to take my stem cells. The pic-line had to stay in for the duration of the collection of stem cells, and for the transplant.
I had a Stem Cell Transplant.
Clinical Trial
I had a megadose of chemo, lost all my hair, and had to stay in the hospital for a month. I felt like I was in prison, and was in a lot of pain. I constantly had cramps, and had diaheria for a whole 3 weeks of my stay. It was really a hellish event for me, something I wish I would not have to go through again.
Maintenance Treatment of Revlimid and Dex.
Drug or Chemo Therapy
I've now been taking this treatment since about August or September 2011. Everything was going well until the beginning of 2012, since I started on 25mg, my blood count was low and I was hospitilized for about a week. I went down to taking 15mg of Revlimid instead.
Remission
Celebration
Finally what was the hopeful outcome happened in the late summer of 2012. I had a real big scare before, since my onocologiste had told me that most probably in the Autaumne of 2012 I would probably have to go through another Stem Cell Transplant. At this time and even now I have been looking for Alternative and/or complementary treatments. I think that I so much did not want to do the Stem Cell Transplant again, that I actually prayed and tried meditation which probably worked, to be in Remission.
Bone strengthening drugs
Drug or Chemo Therapy
I was treated with Aredia to help my bones.
