    Newly diagnosed

    Oh No

My dad was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer. We met with two doctors on Friday, a radiologist and the lead doctor who specializes in chemotherapy. Although they work as a team it did not appear as if they had conferred about my dad at all. The lead doctor actually asked dad what had brought him in to see her. Are you kidding me? She explained she wanted a special test done which is an endoscopy with a camera but failed to make the appt for it. We feel like they are taking their time with the testing as if dad has all the time in the world. Meanwhile the growth is getting larger and he is having severe eating issues. We are confused and do not know if this endless waiting is normal.

    Side Effects

My dad finished a round of chemo and radiation. He has a feeding tube but was repeatedly told by his doctor that he must keep adding water to the feeding tube. Dad did not like the bloated feeling he was experiencing with the added water so he would forego it. He has become dehydrated numerous times which makes the side effects of the chemo and radiation worse. When the doctor stresses that one must add water it is for the good of the patient.
