Surgery
Procedure or Surgery
I had an Complete Hysterectomy 2/5/13 because of bleeding problems I had been having and a large cyst that had been found in my left ovary. The pathology report after surgery showed the cyst was benign but there actually was cancer in my uterus (endometrium) that had been removed.
Received Cancer Diagnosis
Oh No
I received the Cancer diagnosis in my surgeon's office during a post-surgery visit on 2/11/13.
Surgery
Procedure or Surgery
A Laparoscopic Bilateral Pelvic Para-aortic Lymph Node Dissection, along with a pelvic wash was done on 4/15/13 by my gyn-oncologist. A Laparoscopic Umbilical Hernia Repair was done by a general surgeon at the same time. Because I had some low blood pressure issues during and post surgery, and some low blood counts post surgery, I had an unexpected stay in the hospital.
ct scan
Other Care
I had a CT scan of my abdomen and pelvis on 2/28/13. It showed no remarkable findings in any organs but did note some enlarged pelvic lymph nodes.
Finished treatment
Celebration
I saw my gyn-oncologist yesterday. The pathology report was negative on my lymph nodes and the pelvic wash for any cancer. So I don't need any further treatment at this time. Gyn-oncologist will follow me closely with exams and tests every 3 months for next 2 years, then 6 months for following 3 years, and yearly thereafter to check for recurrence. YAY!!!!!
