Oh No
I was diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer to my liver. I had a colon resection in 2008 where I was told the cancerous tumor had not spread to the lymphnodes or crossed the colon wall. In the summer of 2011 on a trip to Florida, I had a very strong pain on my right side and was nauseous. I stoped at an ER if Florida after several tests including an abdominal ultrasound, they couldn't find the reason of the pain ( the ultrsound results were compleatly wrong as I found out later). After several trips to the doctor who beleived I had passed a goldstone, the abdominal ultrasound was repeated, it was found I had a mass in my liver and was metastazied colon cancer.
Surgery
Procedure or Surgery
The right side of my liver was removed. The surgery went fine. I was given an epidural for the pain before surgery and was kept in place for 4 days. This made my recovery much easier and the pain was minimal. I started walking the next day. The pain after my laproscopic colon resction in 2008 was terrible. The recovery took about 8 weeks and I was still in some pain when I tried to vacum the house. It's been about 4 months since the surgery and I am back to normal only a little of numbness arround the scar.
Chemotherapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
I started chemo ( FOLFOX, AVASTIN and OXILAPLATIN ) the first week of January 2012. I've had 4 out of 12 cycles completed. The most bothersome side efect has to be the sencitivity to cold I live in Michigan and even though it's been a mild winter the sencitivity gets worse after each cycle. I am part of a blind study to see if Calcium Magnesium inproves the neuropaty, I don't know if I am part of the plasibo group but it hasn't worked. I started taking vitamin B12 and it improved the neuropathy greatly.
Clinical Trial
I am on a clinical trial to see if an infusion of calsium and magnesium will help with the side effects of Oxilaplatin.

Side Effects

Low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia)
Side Effects
I had to pospone my 5th cycle of chemo because my platelet count was low. I hope this doesn't happen again so I don't have to receive chemo after June.
Hand foot syndrome
Side Effects
The skin on the bottom of my feet is peeling off. It happend before 2 cycles ago, but it wasn't painful, my feet were sore but Ok. This time it was very painful and I could bearly walk. I found a remedy that took the pain away almost immediatly and has been healing my feet. I can walk again but not ready to take any walks soon. If you are interested in the remedy please research Tepezcohuite all info is on the web, all I can say it helped me. I used the powder mixed with a lotion for my feet.
