    Bowel obstruction

    Side Effects

I had constipation that was so severe, I couldn't stand up. This went on for a year. I was told to take laxative twice a day, every day, no matter what, plus stool softener plus I drank at least 32 oz of water each day. I was so dehydrated from treatment that I couldn't get enough fluids in my body for the laxative to work. One time I collapsed in public and was rushed to the hospital for overnight hydration. This is only ONE of the many problems I faced.

    mental and emotional balance

    Loss

I have never recovered from the losses I experienced during chemotherapy. I had to quit a full-time job, my finances are shattered, I wasn't able to socialize, volunteer in my community, attend church -- nothing! I am told that my condition is incurable and that the cancer can only be kept at bay at this point by occasional chemotherapy, which I can no longer tolerate. I would like to find an alternative such as a clinical trial but don't know where or how to begin. Also, I need to speak with a mental health professional because there are too many issues cropping up around this that I can't deal with alone.

Desperate to find an alternative to chemotherapy. Also professional emotional support.

    Decision Point

I've learned that there is an emotional component to cancer, that many cancer patients feel that they are victims and have no control of their lives. I'm doing my best to gain emotional balance in my life and don't know where to turn for help because several past experiences with therapists were extremely negative. I need someone I can talk to freely and candidly about my life, where I went off track, and how I can self-correct.
