    Cancer is back/Recurred

    Oh No

My partner had told me about the cancer she had before, but not in much detail. I just knew that it was bad and that she went in every six months for a full check-up to make sure she was cancer free. Then suddenly I'm being told they found cancer cells. Then the diagnosis of breast cancer. Cancer runs in my family, so I've already had experience with family fighting it...but it is so much different this time. I don't know how to handle going from talking about our future wedding to promising I would find her information on creating a will in just a few days.

    Lumpectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

My partner went to the Mayo Clinic to have a double lumpectomy. Because of work, I wasn't able to go with her. If she wasn't my manager at work, it would've been different. But she couldn't find coverage for me, so I couldn't be there. The doctor told her he couldn't promise that it wouldn't become a double mastectomy after opening her up, but that didn't become necessary. It's a huge relief for her, which is a huge relief for me. She told me that she coded twice during surgery, though, and not being with her through that really gets to me.
