    Found a lump

    Oh No

I found a lump on 12/2712; dropped me to my knees!!!!!! There is no breast cancer the family so the thought of it floored me! Had to wait 11 days to see my ob/Gyn and get mammogram and sonogram confirmation that there was a mass. Had to wait 2. Wks to see breast doctor for biopsy, then 31/2 weeks for surgical removal of the beast! ( that is what I call it "beast") I think the worst is the wait!

    Lumpectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

It wasn't as bad as anticipated,I am 2.5 wks out and have minimal nerve issue and I have pretty good range of motioning in the arm! I was told not to excercise for a month but I started last week with some lower body and using the wii fit, I modified so there was NO discomfort! I feel so much better when I excercise I had to do it!

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

My 1 st stage of chemo involved andromycin/cytosine very 2wks for 2 mo. It was doable. The 1st treatment threw me under the bus for 5 days: within 6hrs of infusion I had projectile vomiting for 3days all the ant- vomiting they gave did not work till they gave me a steroid that helped immensely( do not remember name right now but will look it up and add). With the help of the steroid I handled the rest just fine did not stop me from doing anything slowed me down of a couple of days but just fine till the next.

    External radiation

    Radiation

I found radiation a wasn't bad, I had approx. 3 wks worth of treatments left at which my skin seemed sun burned and I needed to use silver deme cream. I used the cream for about2 weeks after treatment and that was it.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

I went thru 12 taxol treatments following the 1st 4 AC. I found the taxol much more doable than the AC. I iced my fingers and toes during the taxol infusion and never lost any. I had mild neuropathy but now reflecting back after 6 mos. has past I no longer am feeling any residual effects.

    Celebration

May 29 th I went for another check up at the onc. Office. I met with the nurse practioner, had my blood work yada yada. A few days after I called for the blood results and was told the nurse practitioner will call me,not good news!!!!!! Of course,I wait another 24hrs. Till she gets back to me and she says the tumor markers were elevated but still,in the normal range and they want the blood work redone in 6 wks. Instead of waiting till October. When I see the dr. I ask what could elevate it she says lots but I see you are an ex smoker could be lung cancer. Oh great!!!!!!! So for the next 6 weeks ,I have diagnosed every ache ,pain ,cough as some form of cancer! Sleep, what a joke!!!!!!!! Love my Xanax! Anyhow, after all that had my blood work redone last week and no phone call so it must be normal, again. Gosh,darn.............the stress of waiting is horrible!!!!!!!!

    Drug Therapy or Medication

I am doing the happy dance!!!!!! Just talked to dr.,was really down the he end of Jan. Because I did not think our tx was working! I was wrong!!!!! The falsodex/ibrance combo seems to be doing its job. Tumor marker went from 75 Jan. 4th to 59 on February. 1st!!!! Also my wbc is over 4000 and he told me what the rbc but I was to excited to remember!!! We both agreed this is doing what we hoped it would!!!!! Soooo happy!!!!!

    Other Care

What a afternoon!!!! I had to put my best friend of 14yrs down,Murphy the cat. He was my welcome home,my curl up in bed next to me in the morning while I drank my coffee, my sounding board and he never criticized me once in the whole time I had him!! I am heartbroken!!!!! At the same time,(literally putting Murphy in car to take to appt.) I get a call from the onc's nurse practitioner saying some suspicious cells showed up in recent cytology and they want to do 12 wks of taxol to kick them out!!!!! Great!!!!! Today is a really sucky day!

    Other Care

Well, have been on Ibrance/faslodex since 12/5/15 and all of my no.'s have been dropping steadily . Yay! The one hiccup to this tax has been the XXX ascites!!! I had my 1st Paracentesis on 1/4/16 then almost every week -2weeks later another!!! It wasn't normal gradual buildup but a overbite development!!! Dr. Had been baffled. I have had all sorts of tests: pet scan ,colonoscopy, endoscopy all tests come back neg.! We are still going to do a scan of the small intestine because I have had stomach issues. They have been talking about doing a 3 month tx of taxol to kick the ascites out but have been very hesitant because of the positive no.'s of the Ibrance/faslodex! I had my 9th Paracentesis on 3/18 and cytology was requested. The end result showed a suspicious possible( nothing definitive) amount of questionable cells. So. Now I am onto 3 months if taxol. I am not overjoyed about having another port put in,or losing all body hair but I am so tired of blowing up like a ballon and being drained that I am ready to do this and hope it works!
