Tumor on Liver
Procedure or Surgery
I had a Liver resection for tumor unknown status one week prior to the colon surgery. The liver was a secondary site. Both surgeries in 2 weeks, required a long recovery time.
Benign Tumor was really Cancer (what?)
Oh No
I went in for a liver resection following the finding of a "Giant Hemangioma" when waking up it turned out to be Cancer and was a Secondary site.
Colon surgery (colectomy or hemicolectomy)
Procedure or Surgery
This was my primary site. I had this surgery 7 days after the Liver surgery, I was in the hospital the entire time.
Chemotherapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
5-fluorouracil (5-FU)/oxaliplatin is the type of chemotherapy I receive.
Nausea/Vomiting
Side Effects
I had terrible nausea for the first two chemo sessions. By the third they have worked out the kinks.
Genetic link?
Oh No
I have begun genetic counseling for probable Lynch Syndrome. Jeez, only 3% of the population carries this gene. Lucky me.

Chemotherapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
I have started a new therapy. Erbitux and irinotecan. The erbitux causes quite a acne like rash on my face (ugh) and torso. This is an every Tuesday event. The other is every other week. I have been tired like never before. I do feel it might be an easier go that folfox. We will just have to wait and see.
Targeted therapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
I have started erbitux (immunotherapy) weekly and irinotican (chemotherapy) everyother. I hate the pimply rash and am very fatigued but I don't miss the 5FU (FU being the key word) it didn't work for me and I hated the fear of long term neropathy.
Last chemo today 7/5/13. Wahoooo..
Celebration
Even if it doesn't last I get a few weeks off chemo and on to targeted radiation. I have hope again. Not gonna pretend that I'm going to be cured. But I am going to have a great couple of weeks.
External radiation
Radiation
I went in to radiation expecting minimal if any side effects and am sorry to say I was wrong. So far I have been nauseated the same day and the following day. I'm also fatigued. I have slept the night of treatment and all day the following day. :(
