at the age of 17 I was shocked to learn that I had cancer
7/4/86 malignant tumor removed, 8/14/86 hysterectomy, 9/2/86 started my senior year of high school.

my older brother had died of Hodgkins ten years prior at the age of 14. So my diagnosis was a complete shock to the rest of the family

I went through a grieving process knowing that I would never be able to carry a biological child. It was a very difficult and scary time to go through.

throughout the 20 plus years I have had 14 different type of surgeries from recurrent tumors. This included the lungs, liver, thyroid and pelvic area.

Side Effects
Before my diagnosis I weight about 90 pounds. Afterward I gained almost 50 pounds because my metabolism was completely thrown off. I still had my ovaries (luckily) so I didn't go through menopause. My body image was a hard thing to go through
