    Chemotherapy and radiation combined

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

starting this week, pretty scared.......don't quite know what to expect ,though my team has been most helpful and caring, how will I be affected, my home life? worked though a disability in 2002 , that I felt I was just starting to get a handle on, sort of feel like I will need to work my way back ,again. Fortunate to have a large ,wonderful support group to lean on, though I tend not to be that type of personality,I have to accept their care and assistance.

    Shortness of breath

    Side Effects

January 5th, 2013 One Year Later side effects I have experienced; Chemo Brain, Weight Gain, Pneumonia, pneumonitis, difficulty getting of of Prednisone. But, here I am, one year later, having completed a few sessions of Lung Rehab and I am now walking 1 1/3 miles per day, exercising in the pool, trying to learn Tai Chi and can say I am finding my new normal. It is good that I cannot remember much of what went on last year. I do not try very often, just thrilled that I feel I can do a little bit more each day. I strongly recommend Lung /Pulmonary rehab to any one who has gone through lobe removal, chemo, radiation........it has changed my well being. learning to breath properly has opened new doors of wellness! I am very BLESSED!!

Doctors have declared me cured, after three years of clear ct scans and no recurrence I will have my port removed next week. I am blessed and find this to be such an amazing milepost!

    Celebration

One year since treatment started and after a few visits to Lung Rehab I am finally getting back to my old self . It feels so wonderful to breathe properly and find energy once , again. Please insist that you are sent to pulmonary rehabilitation after all your treatments are done.I did not realize I had forgotten how to breath. After six months of pneumonia and pneumonitis I am doing very well. Very Blessed! I have now joined the Livestrong Program at the local Y am hopping to gain more strength. the summer months are so difficult with the high humidity! Welcome Fall!!

    Anniversary

    Celebration

I'm a 5 year survivor of small cell lung cancer. Many did not think I would get here. With surgery, radiation ( not brain) and chemo, I seem to have beat the odds. Leading good life and grateful beyond belief! I plan to continue to support and encourage those just starting this journey.
