    Radical hysterectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

I had a Laparoscopic Radical Hysterectomy. I felt very good it wasn't too bad even though it is a big surgery. The incisions are very small. However, i didn't know you could experience gas pain and those are worst than the surgery it's self. I was sent home with a catheter for 10 days which cause a UTI. Then had to go back to the ER because I was experiencing pain in my pelvic and my lady parts got very swollen. They found a low risk DTV (Blood clot) which i am getting treated for. I am back to work in 1 week after 2 weeks of surgery.

    Went as Expected: Strongly Agree
    Minimal Recovery: Agree
    Minimal Side Effects: Disagree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Agree

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

I had chemotherapy once a week for 4 weeks. the first 2 sessions weren't so bad. but my main side effects were strong fatigue. I felt like a truck ran over my soul. I was mentally and physically drainned. I was very emotional. My skin looked very pale. Although I didn't loose any hair, my hair started shedding alot 2 months after treatments. I did 4 treatments instead of 5, because my blood count was too low. The day of the chemotherapy and the first day after chemotherapy were the worst. Major side effects: - Fatigue - Weight Loss (total of 15lbs) - Sour taste in the mouth - Slightly Nauseous - Emotional - Upset stomach - Uncontrollable bowel movements

    Easy to Do: Disagree
    Minimal Side Effects: Agree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Disagree

    Internal radiation

    Radiation

I had 3 sessions of Internal Radiation. The process was very easy, short and painless. Even though it wasn't mandatory to take the internal radiation but strongly recommended. I decided to do it and be done with it all. I have to use a vaginal dialator to keep the canal of the vagina open. The scaring tissues can close and can have a major impact on intercourse. I find it very difficult after 2 months post internal radiation to have intercourse. I have to use constantly lubrication. It feels very stiff and the vagina is short due to the surgery. Also, the vagina can get shorter due to the internal radiation, therefore that's why I have to use the vaginal dialator 3 times a week for 10 min, or intercourse to avoid any type stenosis

    Painless Experience: Strongly Agree
    Minimal Side Effects: Disagree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Strongly Disagree

    FOLLOW UPS

    Other Care

I finish my radiation and chemo treatments in July-august 2013. Since then, I have been going to follow ups every 3 months with my OBGYN Oncologist and my Radiation Doctor. Everythin has been good. I had a petscan done in October 2013 and all was clear. That was a major relief.
