    Bilateral mastectomy for me!

    Decision Point

Got results from last biopsy that was negative! Doctor wants to do single mastectomy. I've been researching and worry about all of this for a month. I've prepared myself to remove both breast with reconstruction. I was so upset that evening! I asked the ? here about 1 or 2. I got great responses that helped me to stand up for myself. I talked to the doctor and told her that I never want to do this again or put my family through wondering every time I get a mammogram. I'm so happy she knew that was best for me but stressed the risk of lymphadema.

    Double Mastectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

I'll know next Friday!!! Went in Friday 5/10/13 for bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. Was home by noon the next day. Overall this was much better than I had it in my head. Pain but only the 1st few days.

    Breast Reconstruction (Implant)

    Procedure or Surgery

Just got home from surgery and I'm doing great! It hurts like XXX but I guess that's why they gave me pain medicine. Can't wait to see them. They are wrapped up tight til I go back to see plastic surgeon on Thursday.
