    Implant chemotherapy port

    Procedure or Surgery

My port very often does not do a good blood return, which makes using it for blood draws very problematic, as well as sometimes causing a delay in my chemo

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

I am scheduled for 6 21 day cycles of a modified version of EPOCH-R, leaving out one of the drugs (Doxorubicin) because of cardiac issues. Every odd cycle on day 14 I go into the hospital for a treatment of high dose methotrexate

On my last scheduled chemo cycle

    Milestones

I am on my 6th, and last, scheduled chemo cycle. Today is day 2, and tomorrow will actually be my last scheduled day of chemo! After that, since I had an NED pet scan after cycle 2, my doctor is going to wait 3 months before giving me another PET scan. I will be going for weekly blood tests for a month, then one in a month, then the PET scan just before meeting with the doctor in septemeber to go over the (hopefully good) PET scan results. It will be a nervous 3 months I can tell you that.

    Finished treatment

    Celebration

I just had my last day of chemo!! Now, I just get a shot of neulasta, then weekly blood tests for a month, then one blood test the next month (August), then a PET Scan in September. After my PET Scan NED result after 2 chemo cycles, my oncologist has great confidence that my follow though of 6 cycles will cause a similar PET Scan result in September.
