    Misdiagnosed

    Oh No

I was diagnosed with papillary carcinoma and was told that the tumor was so small and early stage that I could wait a year for surgery. I waited 4 months and was told post operatively that it was stage 3. I decided to go to Sloan Kettering and was told that the first prestigious, first rate hospital had missed the follicular variant on the pathology slides and had failed to image my neck region. I am now told I am stage IV and the cancer has metastasized to my neck and a second surgery is needed to remove the large masses the first hospital missed.

    Synthroid

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Initially prescribed incorrect dose and was told to return in 6 weeks. Slept 14 hours per day and fell asleep at work. Went to Sloan and they increased the dosage and I am doing better.

June 22 I had a central and bilateral neck dissection. Used Tylenol the day after the surgery, but now, 3 weeks later the nerves are coming back to life and there is pain.

    Cancer has spread/Metastasized

    Oh No

After neck dissection I was told that 21 cancerous nodes were removed. Pre- op imaging had shown 5 suspicious nodes. Now we have to look at my mediastinum and bones which RAI should show.
