    Procedure or Surgery

My mom just had the Whipple yesterday. Doctor said it went very well and they did not see any signs of cancer anywhere else although a lymph node was enlarged so we are preparing ourselves that she might need chemo and radiation. Today, the day after surgery, has been rough. She's had nausea and dry heaving which has put her in a lot of pain. Her blood pressure is very low - possibly from the epidural they said. And her blood sugar is a little high. Any advice for the first few days post-Whipple are greatly appreciated.

    Went as Expected: Strongly Agree
    Minimal Recovery: Strongly Disagree
    Minimal Side Effects: Strongly Disagree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Strongly Disagree

    Cancer is Gone

Thought I'd post an update to close out this account. Thankfully, the Whipple was the cure for my mother. All margins were clear and it did not spread. My mom's 6 month scan turned out clear and she goes for her one year next month. She's doing fantastic. We are so fortunate.
