    Diagnosed

    Oh No

While I was 33 weeks pregnant with my beautiful daughter, now 10 weeks old, I discovered a lump in my breast. During my post partum visit my doctor sent me to have an ultrasound. The radiologist sent me for a biopsy where the techs then discovered two more "suspicious" lumps. Biopsy came back positive for both lumps and a lymph node.

    Sentinel lymph node biopsy

    Procedure or Surgery

This biopsy was not expected. I had thought there would be one biopsy, and I ended up having 3 biopsies. This biopsy hurt the most. It is still sore.

    PET scan

    Procedure or Surgery

The bone scan was relaxing. I think I took a 20 minute nap. This test was a piece of cake.

    CT scan

    Procedure or Surgery

This test was not as easy as the bone scan. I had to have this test with contrast, and my IV blew, so the contrast collected under my skin. It burned at first then felt like my arm was going to blow up. I had to go back to have another test. That time the test went like it should.

    MRI

    Procedure or Surgery

I had no idea what to expect with this test. This test was extremely loud, but ok. I had no problems.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

I just started Chemo three days ago. I have had a good experience so far. The only thing I find is I am extremely tired. I find it hard to read something because of the tiredness. My nausea had been well controlled by medication. I hope it will always be like this.

    Hair loss (alopecia)

    Side Effects

At almost two weeks from my first treatment my hair started coming out in chunks. So I had my friend give me a short hair cut. My husband likes it. I think it's OK.

    Double Mastectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

I had this procedure about 4 days ago, and so far, everything seems to be fine. I was thinking I would be in more pain than I am, but for the most part they keep just enough drugs in you to keep you painless.
