Health insurance issue
Oh No
I had no insurance when first diagnosed.
Had to decide if I had enough resources to cover a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound.
Decision Point
I was encouraged to apply to the hospital's outpatient clinic for those without health insurance and they worked me into their system fast.
Other
Oh No

Lumpectomy
Procedure or Surgery
The surgery was more disfiguring than I thought it would be and pretty painful. The pain in my armpit from the sentinel node dissection carried on as well. Pain lasted for a long time, which surprised me.
Body part/function
Loss
My breast no longer looked like mine, it was scarred and looked like it belonged to someone else. I was very afraid of my boyfriend's reaction to it.
