    Mastectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

After the mastectomy, and after wrapping my head around this new normal, I decided I was NOT going to let it interfere with my life. So, I didn't. I was after all cancer free after the surgery. Chemo was no joke, but I survived that too.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Following my surgery to remove my right breast, I had 8 months of chemo every two weeks. This was no picnic, but I tried to eat well, and maintain some sort of exercise. losing hair was the least of my concerns.

    Fatigue (tiredness)

    Side Effects

Along with chemo, came the usual side effects I was told about, plus some others I found out on my own. I was determined NOT to let these own me. The fatigue was difficult, I was out on medical leave for almost a year. BUT, I got through it.

    Finished treatment

    Celebration

As soon as my last treatment ended. I went to Disney Land to celebrate with friends. My hair started to grow back, and the fatigue wasn't as bad. I just completed my reconstruction process in December.
