Since my Mother died from breast cancer many years ago I always feared I would one day have it. She had 6 other siblings and they all had cancer but cancer is not what took all of them in the end. I saw the tumor during my mammogram and said WHAT is that. Then the waiting was the worst. When Dr called to say MALIGNANT it seemed surreal. Often, it still does. I am thankful it has not been a physically painful experience. I always prayed I would live to raise my sons unlike my mother who died when I was 9 years old and fortunately those prayers were answered.I am so thankful for all the advances in diagnosis and treatment since my mothers day. I am thinking of having BRAC test to see if I carry genetic mutation. Most triple negative patients do.
