    Just Diagnosed

    Oh No

Had a surgeon tell me on phone I had cancer and he would schedule me for Mastomy. On the phone. Could not believe it. I had a friend who wanted to know how I was. I said not good, and next thing I know there was a whole group helping me cope!!! Found out I had cancer on husband's birthday.

    Mastectomy/Begin Reconstruction Insert Expander

    Procedure or Surgery

The surgery went well and beginning of healing time. Then I got an infection and because I am allergic to alot of antibodics took 3 months to get rid of. I kept getting staff infections, and finally plastic surgeon took apart breast/expander and cleaned everything with antispectic solution. Cleaned squeaky clean and put it back together. Last infection for quite a while (whew!).

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

I had a doctor who had his own agenda, so tried to give me 6 chemos in 4 treatments. I nearly died, and thusly everything was difficult and made me more ill.

    Allergic reaction

    Side Effects

I had many severe problems, but still have allergic reactions today. I know it may not seem like much, but for me it was constantly being sick. I got C Diff, the absolute worst!

    Finished treatment

    Celebration

It was GREAT!!! to finally finish the treatment. It was a year after starting 6 treatment (orginally reduced into 4 by 1st dr). I still had 6 more months of HR2 treatment, but the bad stuff was finally done! Had a pink party.

My kidneys went to stage 3, I developed more serious bladder problems, ached and hurt all over from various treatments

    Other Care

The treatments for all the differnt blood, body and spiritual problems were many and by the Grace of God, good doctors, and caring friends and families made it.

    Allergic reaction

    Side Effects

I became allergic to so many antibodies, pills given to help relieve symptoms, and worst of all, food. Life was really hard, very hard.

Anemia (low red blood cell counts)

    Side Effects

Because of a very bad beginning, I had Anemia and required about 6 transfusions. I had horrible Dr. I refused anymore treatment from him because by the time I nearly died I had so much wrong, that I had to have about 6 weeks infusions of Vancomycin to get rid of infection and then transfer to a new medica system, new Dr. I was 1 number all that time above needing a mandatory transfusion. Horrible.

    Depression/Anxiety

    Side Effects

With all the medical issues this was to be expected. My White blood count being low I spent a large part of a year isolated. No fun. Depressed yes, anxious yes.

    Kidney damage

    Side Effects

I fluctuate between 2 to 3 on damage, do what Drs tell me to do. Surprise last test showed no trouble. I really am praising God, but would not be surprised to find out misread.

    Finished treatment

    Celebration

I am done with 5 years of Letrozole, I have lost a lot, some of my friends got everything back, but not me. I am trying to live this new normal, and will survive. As I used to sing, "I AM WOMAN". I am learning there are things like bowel disorder, not matching breasts anymore. I am working on pain in bones and surprised that the pain is a bit less sometimes, which gives me energy. Small rejoicing, but rejoicing!!!
