Celebration
It has been four years since I reached my lowest point, Easter of 2012, when the side effects of my final chemo of taxotere and cytoxan were making a zombie of me. But in the months that followed, I got stronger and eventually felt better. It took over a year for my hair and nails to resemble "normal" again, and for nearly three years, I worried almost daily about recurrence. In the last year, I have had a hip replaced and that surgery and recovery made me almost forget about cancer. Lately I have focused on my writing. Publication of my e-novel "The Book of Jane" and most recently an article about surviving cancer in the magazine "Coping with Cancer" have lifted my spirits and made me more forward-looking. I really do feel like a survivor, finally.
