Diagnosed
Oh No
When Whitney was 11 years old, she had a yearly checkup which included lab work. Her WBC was dangerously low. The clinic sent us to our local Children's Hospital which was 2 1/2 hours away. It took a month but they finally diagnosed her with Leukemia. She was not even sick or anything. They said it was very early. I had no clue about Leukemia. My first thought was she was going to die.

Procedure or Surgery
Whitney was overwhelmed. It was her first surgery ever. At 11 years old, this was a big deal. At the same time, her first shot of chemo went into her spine. She had a huge head ache and when she came back to her room the headache was gone.
Chemotherapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
Whitney hates taking chemo. Sometimes it makes her sick or give her mouth sores. The side effects are the worst.
Bleeding
Side Effects
Too many to name. One being a brain bleed that caused her left side to be weak.
Finished treatment
Celebration
Whitney finished treatment after 2 1/2 years. But was short lived. 10 months. her cancer relapsed.
hair
Loss
Whitney lost her hair 4 times.
