Removal of port due to an nifection

    Procedure or Surgery

My port became infected about 2 months ago. My doctor tried massive doses of antibiotics but they didn't work. So off to the surgeon who removed it, with a local anesthetic, in his office. He didn't suture or staple the incision. Rather he packed it and left it to my wife to change the packing every day for a week. After the local anesthetic wore off I felt persistent though minor pain which continues today, a week after the surgery. It feels like the incision is tight and is pulling. I've been taking 1500mg of Tylenol once or twice a day to relieve the discomfort but mostly I just deal with it. Next week I get a new port put in.
