    Diagnosed

    Oh No

Diagnosis came out of the blue - ob/gyn discovered a lump at my routine annual exam on April 19, 2011, mammogram and ultrasound on April 20th were precautionary. I was healthy with no real family history. Had a biopsy on April 22nd and got the "It's Cancer" news on April 28th.

    Decision Point

decided to freeze my eggs before starting chemo since I was 35, single and childless and wanted to make every effort to preserve my fertility

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Had 4 rounds of Adrimyacin and Cytoxin followed by 4 rounds of Taxotere. A/C was manageable but the cumulative effect of the drugs and the increased side effects with taxotere hit me hard near the end.

    Easy to Do: Strongly Disagree
    Minimal Side Effects: Disagree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Strongly Disagree

    Lumpectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

lumpectomy was probably the easiest part of the whole experience - minimal recovery time and the fatigue felt like it was mostly lingering from chemo. Had my sentinel node removed as well but happily no signs of lymphodema.

    Went as Expected: Strongly Agree
    Minimal Recovery: Strongly Agree
    Minimal Side Effects: Strongly Agree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Agree

Started my 35 rounds of radiation on January 12, 2012, so far, so good.
