    Double Mastectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

My double mastectomy was uneventful and recovery was quick. The tissue expanders for reconstruction were another story. Ouch!

    Breast Reconstruction (Implant)

    Procedure or Surgery

After a double mastectomy, I had tissue expanders placed under the chest muscle to retain the tissue for later reconstruction. The tissue expanders were very painful and once expanded, were hard, bulky, and uncomfortable.

    Breast Reconstruction (Flap)

    Procedure or Surgery

I had DEIP flap surgery last Tuesday, left the hospital Saturday, and I'm doing great. Not a lot of pain, just some discomfort the first couple of days post surgery. I am truly blessed !
