    Decision Point

colon cancer found during routine colonoscopy. Alone when the report was read to me thinking routine all the way with endoscopy same day. He never looked at me while reading and I asked him to stop and write on a piece of paper in a couple of words and he wrote "colon cancer." He told me to go to front desk to do paperwork and they without looking directly at me gave me referrals to blood work at a lab same day followed by surgeon and radiology scan within a week. I walked out and went to lab place and asked to borrow a cell phone from a patient. She let me borrow hers and I called my minister as there was no one around that I knew. Surgery was two weeks ago and right ascending colon along with appendix, etc. were removed. No chance to recup as I am caring for my husband who has stage 4 liver cancer and is on nexavar chemo at home. Have not had time to consider my own illness and would like to go somewhere outside the area to think perferrably near the Atlantic Ocean where beach houses and solitude are plentiful. Maybe when I can gather enough money; will do. In meanwhile cooking, cleaning, caring, etc. for husband in a small town where we know no one and no family in area. Don't know how much to tell family as they will feel need to travel to FL and take care of us. I just need help in caring for husband who was diagnosed in Aug 2010 with stage 4 liver. Took him to Duke in NC for vascular embolization twice but now has two additional liver cancers with the original 4.
