    Colonoscopy & initial diagnosis - 9 Jan. 2013

    Oh No

I thought I had a gargantuan hemorrhoid. But my "hemorrhoid" was anal cancer! Stage IIIB with large internal & external tumor, & metastasis to bilateral inguinal nodes.

falling down & unable to get up; unable to climb stairs

    Side Effects

Discovered I was having a delayed reaction to 5-FU, which was causing symptoms similar to MS. Began a restorative yoga class, worked with a physical therapist, & consumed megadoses of vitamin B-12. Am much better now! And by the way, lest I scare anyone, this is a rare side effect!

Doctors uncertain how to treat following lymph node dissection.

    Oh No

Very few patients have similar response. Uncertain whether to begin chemo again to treat presence in lymphatic system. Doctors decide [in Feb. 2014] to wait & monitor closely.
