Diagnosed
Oh No
Primary physician didn't believe in 125 test. 2 1/2 years prior advised gynocologist of family history. Stated I felt something was changing. No pain or spotting. No conclusive test results. But I knew....And now it's here...Stage 4
Debulking surgery
Procedure or Surgery
Surgeon looked into a calcified omentum cake plus cancer cells everywhere. Sewed me up...sent me home to more chemo.... CA125 # has dropped from 3500 to 100....What does this mean?
Chemotherapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
3 cycles before surgery...because of urgency reflected in high CA125 Now more chemo is indicated...Chemo not so bad but the "neulasta shot is a killer for 5-7 days of agony...
Thinking problems
Side Effects
chemo brain or chemo fog is frustrating..some vision fuzziness....fatigue
Decision Point
Have now had 3 more cycles of chemo & gotten petscan in late May.....Surgery is now a possibility again or a maintence schedule of chemo...lower doses as needed to control tumor. Surgery will include removal of some large intestine to detach omentum cake. Different surgeons with more aggressive ideas. A leap of faith here. Will see my Oncologist tomorrow & hear her take on this new info.
Debulking surgery
Procedure or Surgery
This second surgery on August 2nd went far better than I had reason to expect. Chemo had reduced tumors & surgeon was so pleased to be able to remove almost all. Two small spots remain & will be treated with followup chemo. Have not seen Oncologist yet(3 weeks). Can not fully comprehend the 180 turn around yet. Feb debulking was aborted....now I have a whole new opportunity.....
Avastin to block blood flow to cancer site...starve the cancer
Drug or Chemo Therapy
Every three weeks...leaves me with weakness. Chemo was fatigue...this is slighly different.
Chemotherapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
Cisplatin was introduced because supposedly Avastin quit working. Blood work alerted us to 3 small new abnormalities.Cisplatin is "so strong" it is given in 3 cycles.
Chemotherapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
Avastin failed to help control growth....Cisplatin was started in February 2013..Very tough dose...Was barely functiong ...after 3rd one I asked for lower dose...much more tolerable...chronic disease at this point. Ca 125 has dropped dramatically...
Side Effects
The side effects from chemo are getting tougher as the chemo accumulates.....however my CA125 is at an all time low of 22 as of June 2012....
Celebration
This person has yet to add any details about this experience.
Side Effects
chemo is becoming as great a threat to life as the cancer is...
Chemotherapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
as the chemo accumulates over 2 years...the daily life is mostly about side effects
Side Effects
neuropathy has increased to uncomfortable level...now exertion causes panting because not enough oxygen...red/white cells are depleted. some neausous days too.
Other
Loss
Onc referred me to Hospice....I have lost my cancer battle
