I got fever and body aches from Zometa the first few times. I was fine after that. My oncologist switched me to Xgeva in Fall 2010.

    Mastectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

Not an overly painful recovery, but a slow recovery. 1 1/2 years later now, I am still numb across my chest, under my arm pit and down my side. I have a noticeable amount of painless lymphodema, but not extremely noticeable.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

adrymicin (I hope I spelled that right!) gave me premature ventricular contractions which did eventually clear up but I remain on Atenolol for it because whenever I try to stop the atenolol I get episodes of racing heart (tachycardia). cytoxin- I'm not sure exactly what side effects were from this as opposed to Adrymicin, but let it suffice to say I felt really sick the very first treatment, but taking Zofran helped tremendously. After the first treatment I felt okay, but my taste buds got burned out, I got horrible heartburn, constipation, and my finger and toenails fell off which was quite unpleasant. Of course my hair fell out too, as well as my eyelashes and brows, but I expected that. Luckily the Adrymicin/Cytoxin treatment was only 6 times. I've tolerated Taxol much better. Absolutely no nausea, just neuropathy in my feet which is tolerable. Lost my hair, lashes and brows, but no nails. Tastebuds have been fine and heartburn and constipation not as severe. I've had 6 cycles of 3 treatments each.
