    Procedure or Surgery

the surgery -- no bag oh yes! Just what the general surgeon told me! Thirteen inches of my intestines-- 15 lymph nodes removed --stage one colon cancer - no chemo no radiation. umbilicus hernia 6 months later - more surgery.

    Decision Point

I made many decisions when I was first diagnosed with cancer- the main one was to walk away from the colon specialist who never told me the positive results from my colonscopy. I went to the pathology department myself and obtained the results. the second decision was never to hide anything serious from my daughter again-- i thought I was protecting her and kept the diagnosis secret until after the holidays. the third decision that was also the first I was going to beat this thing and survive!
