    Misdiagnosed

    Oh No

I had been going to doctors for more than a year and a half. Every doctor told me that it was just muscular. I had all kinds of injections and did so much physical therapy. Then I had an MRI that was read incorrectly and I was led to believe that everything was just a muscular problem. Eventually after going to more doctors I finally found out that I had a tumor in my neck.

    Surgery

    Procedure or Surgery

The surgery that I had to remove my tumor also effected the muscle in my neck. The doctors had to remove a good deal of muscle in my neck. The recovery has been difficult because I have to rehab my neck. I have to stretch out my neck and get used to having that muscle gone. I have difficulty turning my head and I have a limited range of motion. I also have an indent in my neck where they removed that muscle.

    Went as Expected: Strongly Agree

    External radiation

    Radiation

I had a lot of pain after my surgery and I started radiation pretty soon after. In the beginning of radiation I was in so much pain from the position that I had to lay in that I had to have pain medicine administered into my port during my radiation sessions. Now radiation is pretty much a breeze. The only side effect that I've had is a sore throat on and off.

    Minimal Side Effects: Neutral/NA
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Neutral/NA

    Cancer has spread/Metastasized

    Oh No

I went to my last doc appt. to start my last round of chemo. The good news was that the initial area where the cancer was, was all gone but they then discovered that my cancer had spread to my lungs and there was little they could do. They had a few options to prolong my life but nothing that would save my life.
