    Cancer has spread/Metastasized

    Oh No

I am going to see the surgeon in 2 weeks. I have been advised to expect a total thyroidectomy. So here we go. I can do this.

    Appointment to see the surgeon

    Symptom Management

I began my journey during my husbands struggle with heart disease and didn't have time to focus on my disease. I was diagnosed with NHL in 2010 and only told a few close friends and relatives. I remained in watchful wait until July 2013. My husband passed away in January 2013 and 3 mos. later I started getting sick. I went to the ER in July and began treatment 2 weeks later. I made a plan of action with my doctor and then told everyone else. I am a Christian and believe God had allowed me the time I needed to be with my husband. I had my talk with God and told him I was prepared for what ever he had in store for me, but I didn't think my son was ready. I ended my conversation with "lead the way and I will follow." One week after my first treatment, I noticed the largest and most troublesome spots were gone. I then began the battle I was intended to fight. My son took it the hardest of all, claiming I was down playing everything and hiding things from him. I replied, " I have been healthy all of my life and I have always tackled problems head on, so what makes you think I am going to do this any different." I then took him with me to my next appointment so he could ask any questions he wanted answers to. He is handling it quite well now. I felt better than I had in a long time, however the last treatment was a little rough. I just told myself I was very fortunate to have stayed strong until now, so it must be time to rest, which I did. I was back to my old self in no time. Now for round 2, I have to have a thyroidectomy due to cancer. This too shall pass, I have my 2nd wind.
