Oh No
I had actually had pain in the area in whcih my tumor was found. It was a sharp burning pain that was inconsistant. I kept feeling for a lump but never found one, until one day I felt a small pea like formation. I immediately scheduled my appointment. My doctor sent me for a mammorgram (6 months early). My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at 44 and died at 48. I am 44 with same diagnois. I was careful and did my monthly self examines and had my yearly mammograms since I was 25. I was recently tested for the Brac gene and I am positive. I wish I had done it sooner.
Double Mastectomy
Procedure or Surgery
My surgery is scheduled for May 8th. I will have a double mastectomy as well as an ovariectomy due to the Brac positive gene. I will let you know how it goes. Until then I am praying that my outcome is not that of my mothers.
