    Diagnosed

    Oh No

in june of 2009 we found out my dad had esophageal cancer. it was found by mistake when doing a chest xray for another health problem. they caught it when it was so new that they went ahead and removed his esophagus and took all the cancer with it. they did biopsys of surrounding areas and no cancer was shown. he got a clean bill of health. yeah!

    Cancer has spread/Metastasized

    Oh No

a couple weeks ago we found out the cancer has returned and is in my dad's neck lymph nodes and where they connected his stomach to his throat. the doctors are baffled because after they removed his esophagus in august '09 they biopsy'd nearby areas and no cancer was detected. he is at stage 4, not that numbers mean anything. he will be getting a port in 2 weeks. they're trying to move the date up because he's having trouble swallowing. tomorrow will bring more info we hope.
