I had a large lymph node removed from my groin which turned out to be just what I needed to confirm a cancer diagnosis.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

I didn't like it but I had to do it. I was sick for a few days but then started back into life - until the next round.

    Chemo didn't work

    Oh No

After two rounds of chemo, I had a CT scan only to discover that it hadn't touched my cancer. That meant that I had to go on a strong, more dangerous type of chemo. One that made me a lot sicker.

I was so terribly sick during this. I had six rounds and was miserable during the whole time.

    Finished treatment

    Celebration

Yee Haw!! Eight rounds of chemo. Six months worth and I was done and in remission. Nothing could feel better than that.

    Cancer is back/Recurred

    Oh No

Six months after stopping chemo my cancer was back. I knew that I was going to die. A very terrifying time for me. The docs watched the one tumor in my groin, scanning it every few months until it started to grow faster. That worried them.

They took that one remaining lymph node out to biopsy it.

    Cancer didn't come back

    Celebration

After that turmor was removed, I have had regular scans (this happened in 2008) and nothing has grown since then. I have remained cancer free. I have since heard that the thought is that lymphoma has stem cells and if you can kill the stem cells, you can cure the lymphoma. I think that is what happened to me when they took that one lymph node out. That was the node with the stem cells, they removed it and I've been cancer free ever since. YEAH!!
