    Health insurance issue

    Oh No

On Friday May 30th, the company that I worked at for almost 11 years completely ceased operations. All 6,000 employees nationwide were terminated. The notification was effective end of that day. There would be no severance, and no health insurance. Cobra was the only option. I was a Regional Vice President. On Monday, June 2nd, I received my cancer diagnosis. So in a matter of a few days, I had no job, no health insurance, and a life-threatening diagnosis. Oh, how life can change.

    Procedure or Surgery

I had surgery on June 26th to remove a well differentiated adenocarcinoma tumor imbedded in my rectis abdominal muscle. ( That is the lower stomach muscle) I am still recovering, but feel good. The surgeon re-cut through my caesarean scar. Caesarean was 19 years ago. So it was like having another C-section. Instead of a baby, the doc removed a section of my muscle about the size of a lemon. With the tumor about the size of a plum. I now have a mesh screen inside, covering the muscle void. It's been 23 days since the surgery. I feel pretty good. But nowhere near myself prior. Chemo starts first week of August.
