    Taste change/loss

    Side Effects

Around day 3 of my chemo (CHOP-R) I really notice a metallic taste, which tries to overtake my taste buds. I have found that my nausea is very much a mental chess game, and that my taste buds seem to be one of the main keys to winning this fight. Water with even a teaspoon of Lemon juice seems to neutralize this taste and reset my taste buds. Sometimes I have also used a carbonation for the water and have then added lemon juice. Although I have not drank any alcohol throughout my treatments I have also swished and spit out wine on occasion and have found that wine will also "rip out" the metallic taste and reset my taste buds.
